An Introduction to AI and Teaching, Learning and Assessment [ Online workshop ] Online

Run by Associate Professor Jane Secker and Salman Usman

There has been a lot of concern in higher education about the rise of Generative Artificial Intelligence recently Tools such as ChatGPT have the ability to generate written content that students may submit in place of their own original work for assessments. In this introductory workshop aimed at teaching colleagues, we’ll hear from LEaD staff who have been exploring these tools to understand how they can benefit students, but how staff can design our teaching and assessments robustly to take into account of AI. These tools are being used widely in the sector and so simply banning them won’t be effective. It’s also essential we equip students with a good understanding of the strengths and limitations of AI. In the session we’ll also share the updated policy and guidance about the use of AI by students and allow plenty of time for questions and discussion. If you have redesigned your teaching or assessments to take into account of AI, or have ideas about how to do this, then please do join us at this workshop where we hope to share good practices from across the sector.
