Academic Practice Symposium

Academic Practice Symposium In-Person

We are organising another edition of our MAAP Symposium. As a current, former or prospective student on the MA in Academic Practice (MAAP) programme, we would like to invite you once again to participate in this event. This takes place on Tuesday 29th April 2025, between 12-2 pm in C303 [Tait Building].

This year, the symposium will focus on the impact of educational research on teaching; we’ll explore how the scholarly activities developed within the MAAP programme have influenced and enhanced teaching practice. Colleagues are invited to showcase examples of their research and projects, sharing insights with the broader City St George’s University community. The goal is to facilitate meaningful discussions about the relevance of scholarly activity to teaching practices across departments, schools, and the broader academic context.

We are interested in hearing from colleagues who would like to lead a practical session. If you have a research or scholarly activity that you would like to share and demonstrate with others, we would love to hear it. Alternatively, you can propose a 7-minute lightning talk. If you are interested, please complete this short online form. (Please contact us if you are unsure about the best format for your contribution.) You will be asked to provide a title and a short abstract of between 50 and 100 words outlining the theme of your talk and to which MAAP module it best aligns. The deadline for all submissions is Friday 11th April.

We look forward to your contributions and a stimulating exchange of ideas.
